The latest Nintendo Switch 2 leaks suggest the port of Final Fantasy 7: Remake has taken very little time to accomplish. The leaks also suggest the game runs and looks just as good as a PS5 game.

Furthermore, Nintendo Switch 2 Dev Kits have supposedly been out in the wild for a while now, and rumour has it the Switch 2 is backwards compatible with the original Nintendo Switch. Switch 2 backwards compatability is also said to function in a similar way to that of the DS and 3DS handheld consoles.
Let’s just hope the game packaging is much smaller this time around.
Nintendo Switch 2 Rumoured On Par with PS5 Graphically
Having played both the initial PS4 release and the upgraded FF7: Remake Intergrade for PS5, this is no small claim as the game looks absolutely incredible. As such, I’m somewhat sceptical about this, because it wouldn’t be unfair to say Nintendo consoles have been at the back of the competition for three generations when it comes to visuals and performance.
That’s not to say Nintendo products are bad by any stretch, but having consistently presented their consoles as family-friendly, they haven’t needed to offer the best visuals or performance the market has to offer.

But with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, this could all change, because if the leaks turn out to be accurate, Nintendo fans will have their best performing console to date.
Steam Deck vs Nintendo Handheld
Nintendo Switch is a convenient console and is unsurpassed in family entertainment and accessibility. Being able to play on the go is a brilliant luxury and Nintendo dominate that market. However, with Steam Deck rapidly gaining in popularity, a new business strategy has been in order.
And if that’s to give gamers across the globe the ability to play high-quality, high-fidelity, high-performance games on the go, then I look forward to the potential the Nintendo Switch 2 has to offer.
Sadly, many titles are simply too powerful for Nintendo Switch to run smoothly, so ports end up suffering with downgraded visuals, lower frame rates and a much lower perfomance overall.
If Nintendo Switch 2 can step up its game, this issue could be a thing of the past and would prevent Nintendo consoles being dubbed a downgrade by the more competitive, hardcore PlayStation and Xbox gamers out there.
Emulation and piracy is also an issue, with a small percentage of gamers preferring to download (sometimes illegally) Nintendo Switch games to play with upscaled visuals and performance. If Switch 2 does indeed utilise a much higher graphical/processing capacity, there would be less incentive for emulation over buying the new console.

Lastly, to cap things off, the Final Fantasy 9 remake has also had a small leak.
Originally slated for a summer 2024 release, Final Fantasy 9 remake is likely to be delayed as it needs polish. For how long it’ll be delayed, I don’t know, but considering how much of a masterpiece the original is, I’d rather it stayed in the oven longer and released as a polished gem of a product, than an unfinished mess like so many other games of recent years.
