Sony WF-C700N Wireless ANC Earphones preview – Entry-Level Competitor

Sony WF-C700N wireless ANC earphones were announced earlier this week with the company also revealing a new colourway for its upmarket Sony WH-1000XM5. The new model WF-C700N are aimed squarely at the affordable end of the market but Sony has included some features straight from their cutting-edge models higher up the range.

Sony WF-C700N wireless earphones come in four colours, Black, White, Lavender and Sage Green and is available from April 2023 in the UK at around £99.99. The set is coming to Ireland also in April 2023 with pricing to be confirmed.

All-Day Comfort

Sony WF-C700N wireless are built on decades of research into ear shapes conducted by the company since 1982. That’s the year Sony first that introduced the in-ear headphones.

The cylindrical charging case is small and easy to carry around in a pocket or bag so you can take the set anywhere you go. The earbuds weight just 4.6 grams each so you might forget you are wearing them.

Sony-Quality Audio

The WF-C700N wireless earphones come with Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) to restore high frequencies to lower bitrate music. This is a handy feature for using with YouTube Music and other places where audio is hit hard by compression. The tech was previously a preserve of Sony’s higher-end model and it’s quite a feature to boast for £99.99.

Low price ANC TWS earbuds

Sony WF-C700N can also have its sound tailored to the listener via the Headphones Connect app. The company’s own EQ and sound customisation software is available for Android and Apple devices.

Noise Cancellation and Ambient Modes

Sony WF-C700N feature strong suite of noise cancellation modes which can be adjusted using the Headphones Connect app. During calls the set uses a Wind Noise Reduction system, something that will be handy around these parts.

Sony WF-C700N wireless earphones also feature Adaptive Sound Control, another high-end feature to hang over its entry-level competitors. Adaptive Sound Control senses where you are and what you’re doing, then adjusts ambient sound settings for the ideal listening experience.

The set also feature 20 levels of Ambient Mode adjustment so you can find the perfect balance between the real world and your audio. There’s even a dedicated Voice Mode to allow you have a conversation naturally without removing your earphones.

Convenient Wireless Audio

The charging case will give you up to 15 hours despite its slender form. Leaving the earphones in the case for ten minutes will give you one hour of listening time or you can pack a massive 10 hours of ANC-off audio by leaving the buds in the charging case of for 90 minutes.

Sony WF-C700N wireless earphones use an asymmetric/symmetric hybrid control scheme. A button on one ear changes noise-cancellation or ambient modes, a button on the other controls playback. However, the buttons on both ears can be used to change volume or hail you AI assistant.

Sony WF-C700N are now available in the UK with an MRRP of £99.99, and will be arriving in Ireland soon with pricing to be confirmed.
