Huawei had us in (digitally) for a pre-briefing this morning and announced their latest low mid-tier offering, Huawei P smart 2021. The 6.67″-screened P smart 2021 [sic] will be available from early November and takes aim squarely at the young adult market with their choice of colour and performance goals backing that up.

Huawei P smart 2021 [sic] is selling itself to its all-action demographic with its battery life, quick charging, stylish Huawei-specific design and camera capabilities. The scarcely-believable price is another feature that cash-strapped potentials buyers will be looking at when considering their first/next smartphone.

A Smart Investment

You are getting a lot of phone for under two hundred quid.

For a start, the aforementioned 6.67″ screen delivers a lot of real estate. The 2,400×1,080 resolution. That display is 90.3% of the front of the device – that bracket of screen-to-body ratio is usually a premium indicator. The punch-hole notch resembles more expensive devices also and allows the screen-to-body ratio to be appreciated.

Another standout feature of Huawei flagship phones has made its way to a new low in terms of price. Supercharging is available on Huawei P smart 2021 [sic] with the device charging at 22.5W. This will give users two hours of video playback from just a 10-minute charge.

This quick-charge facility is complimented by the huge 5,000 mAh battery that Huawei claims can play back 23 hours of video on a single charge. They also claim the battery is good for around 12 hours of 4G browsing.

Four Lenses

A total of four lenses should furnish users with a huge variety of capture options. The 48MP main camera used 4-to-1 pixel binning to give better 12MP stills. Users can still take a 48MP shot if they need fine detail but could do without the AI trickery.

P smart 2021 why is the s in smart in lowercase??

The sensor is quite large so low-light capture should be excellent at this price. The provision of a macro lens is a welcome surprise. The camera will capture 4K video at 30fps.
