Sony Announce LinkBuds S ‘Earth Blue’ Made from Recycled Plastic

Sony has announced a new addition to their LinkBuds line-up. Their new Sony LinkBuds S ‘Earth Blue’ use recycled resin material made from plastic water coolers. A donation of $2 USD from the sale of each LinkBuds S will also be donated to marine conservation activities.

LinkBuds S New ‘Earth Blue’

LinkBuds S are now available in a new ‘Earth Blue’ colour with parts of the body and case made using recycled materials. These recycled resins are generated from recycled plastic water dispensers.

The resulting material on creates a unique marble pattern, with each individual Earth Blue unit having its own unique pattern. Additionally, each purchase will protect nearly 58,824 m2 of ocean, equivalent to around 47 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

In addition to the ‘Earth Blue’ model, the entire LinkBuds series also comes with plastic-free packaging. The headphones also feature recycled materials from automobile parts.

Sony LinkBuds S feature Adaptive Sound Control. This mode adjusts ambient sound settings depending on where you are, creating the ideal listening experience.

Bluetooth Upgrade Coming to Sony Devices

Multipoint Bluetooth connection is also being brought to the Sony LinkBuds series and the WF-1000XM4 headphones. A software update will enable simultaneous connection of two devices with seamless switching between them.

All models in the LinkBuds series will receive the software update. After which, they can avail of the Multipoint Bluetooth connection function and connect to up to two devices at once.

So, if you are playing music on your PC and your smartphone receives an incoming call, it will automatically switch to the smartphone’s call. This ensures you can make a hands-free call without having to switch connections.

All LinkBuds series models will receive a software update in November 2022 to support Multipoint Bluetooth connection. Sony WF-1000XM4 headphones will also benefit from the more convenient Bluetooth function this winter.

Sony LinkBuds S Pricing and Availability

The LinkBuds S ‘Earth Blue’ version will be priced at approximately £180/€200 and will be available in Europe from November 2022.
