Six Invitational Paris 2026 – Falling in Love All Over Again

Three minutes. That’s how long a ranked round lasts in Rainbow Six Siege. One hundred and eighty seconds isn’t much, but on the world stage in front of a baited crowd it must feel like a lifetime. And in the world of Rainbow Six Siege, the stage doesn’t get much bigger than the Six Invitational, the pinnacle of the game’s esports scene.

This year’s Six Invitational took place in Paris, France, at the Adidas Arena, marking the tournament’s 10th anniversary on the home soil of the game’s creators, Ubisoft. Twenty of the world’s best teams battled for a share of a cool $3 million prize pool and, more importantly, the right to lift the coveted Hammer trophy.

I was lucky enough to attend the event on its three public days from the 13th to the 15th. As with past field reports from Rainbow Six events, I’ll touch on the tournament, the atmosphere, and everything that descended on the City of Love over Valentine’s weekend.

Home Ground

Right away, I have to tip my hat to Paris for getting behind the event so enthusiastically. This became clear the moment we reached the metro after landing. Posters for the Invitational were plastered across stations. It was a first for me, having never seen anything like it in Manchester, Boston, or Munich.

Another first was a Rainbow Six pop‑up shop in the heart of the city, which was a lovely touch. The shop sold shirts, jackets, trinkets, and some team gear. It meant you could pick up your swag ahead of time and avoid rushing to the merch stand on arrival. It also gave fans a fixed meeting point before the event. Hopefully this becomes a regular feature.

As for the main venue, the Adidas Arena was, on the whole, a strong location. With around 8,000 seats, it felt similar to BMW Park in Munich. It’s a basketball arena that doubles as an event space when not hosting games.

This also meant plenty of food and drink options, including a crêpe stand and even champagne. Another first for me at an esports event, but also very French. For those curious about prices, a Coke was €4.50, which is about standard for an arena.

Going Mobile

Beyond refreshments, there were more stands than usual for a Siege event. Xbox, one of the main sponsors, offered 1v1 challenges. With Rainbow Six Mobile launching globally soon, there was also a chance to try the game.

As always, there was a merch stand, though in a clever move there were several, meaning queues were short. A definite plus. A few photo ops were dotted around too, letting fans pose with props like Bandit’s battery or Sledge’s hammer. The theming was strong as well. Given the arena’s sporting roots, banners and posters celebrated the past 10 years of Siege events, from championship teams to Hall of Fame players.

Stage Show

Before diving into the action, it’s worth discussing the staging. It’s usually a highlight. From the glitz of Boston to the high‑tech digital floor in Munich, BLAST normally knock it out of the park.

Honestly, this year felt underwhelming. It had been hyped heavily beforehand, with commentators calling it the best stage ever, but in person it fell flat. The “gimmick” was a ring of real flowers, oddly handled by a German company, but beyond that it was very plain. The lights and sound were there, but the wow factor wasn’t.

Maybe it was the placement, with one team facing the VIP‑only section. Maybe it was the entry door, which had a cool rainbow‑themed stained‑glass design but looked tiny against the black curtain closing off the back of the arena. Or perhaps it was the visible basketball court beneath the stage, which looked as if it had simply been plonked on top with no masking.

It might sound like a strange complaint, but at these events you want to be blown away by the spectacle. For me, and for others on social media, the stage missed the mark, especially for a milestone year.

Road Map

A huge part of the final Sunday is the reveal panel for the year ahead in Siege, and Year 11 looks set to be something special. As hinted before the event, a new operator is joining Rainbow.

Joshua Mills, the new Creative Director of Rainbow Six Siege, Alexander Karpazis, the outgoing Creative Director, and Christopher Budgen, Live Content Director, took to the stage for the Year 11 roadmap and Season 1 reveal, with a few hiccups along the way.

Season 1, Operation Silent Hunt, launches on 3 March and brings with it Solid Snake. Yes, the iconic protagonist of the Metal Gear Solid series joins as a new permanent attacker in Rainbow Six Siege. David Hayter, Snake’s longtime voice actor, reprises his legendary role. This crossover operator brings a stealth‑focused playstyle, a unique intel‑gathering gadget, and a suppressed primary sidearm: his iconic SOCOM‑style .45. The aim is to create new tactical options.

Snake also arrives with a limited‑time event called Redacted, featuring a 4v4 infiltration mode and themed cosmetics inspired by Metal Gear Solid.

The panel also highlighted major competitive and gameplay improvements, with the revamped Ranked 3.0 system being the headline. There’s a new elite competitive tier called Legend Division, expanded anti‑cheat protections via the R6 ShieldGuard Secure Platform, and a limited 1v1 Arcade mode coming in Season 1.

The next batch of map upgrades was announced too, with Oregon, Coastline, and Villa receiving visual updates and improved destruction. A new long‑term progression system, Operator Mastery, is also on the way. Surprisingly, it was confirmed that Dual Front will conclude with Season 1 before being removed.

Remastered Ops

Looking ahead to later seasons in Year 11, Dokkaebi will receive a remaster. The game will also dig into its past, with a new map inspired by Rainbow Six Vegas and an operator from that series.

Competitive gaming live arena

Rainbow Six Mobile launches globally on 23 February for iOS and Android, featuring more than 20 operators, multiple modes, and maps adapted from the main game.

It was also announced where the next year of Majors and the Six Invitational will be held. Sadly for European fans, it’s going to be a long haul.

The first R6 Major of 2026 will take place in Salt Lake City, United States, in May. Then the action moves to a location fans have been begging for, as Rainbow heads to Japan for another Major.

Planning Ahead

Finally, the Six Invitational 2027 will return to the home of the reigning champions: Brazil. There’s a strong feeling it will be held in São Paulo in February 2027, marking its return after the huge 2024 event there. French DJ duo Ofenbach also took to the stage to perform their track Human, the official Six Invitational 2026 anthem, and they certainly fired up the crowd for the final.

With all that out of the way, it was time to see who would lift the Hammer. The tournament began long before the main stage event, with a group stage from 2 to 6 February. Teams were split into four groups. Only the bottom team in each group was eliminated, with the rest advancing to the playoff bracket.

Throughout this phase, traditional powerhouses like FaZe Clan and FURIA showed why they are among the best, while rising squads such as Fluxo W7M and Team Secret also impressed.

After the group stage came the closed‑door playoffs, played as best‑of‑three series. FaZe, the defending SI 2025 champions, dominated throughout, topping their group and sweeping key opponents including Fluxo W7M, Wildcard Gaming, and hometown heroes Team Falcons to reach the grand final undefeated.

Lower Bracket

Meanwhile, Team Secret carved their path through the lower bracket, knocking out big names like G2 Esports and WEIBO Gaming to earn their shot at the reigning champions. With Falcons crashing out again on the main stage, the French crowd rallied behind Secret heading into the final, or more specifically, behind French player Yanis “Mowwwgli” Dahmani.

The Grand Final took place on Sunday the 15th, with FaZe Clan facing Team Secret in a best‑of‑five. FaZe came out strong, winning the first two maps, Consulate (7–4) and Bank (7–2), before Secret dug deep and claimed map three in a tight 11–9 overtime battle. On the fourth map, Border, FaZe sealed the series 3–1 with a 10–8 victory, clinching the title once again.

And that “once again” is the key part. FaZe became the first team in Siege history to defend their Six Invitational title back‑to‑back with the same roster, cementing their legacy among the greatest in the game’s competitive history. Six Invitational 2026 was wild, from the passion of the French crowd to the surprises that unfolded live on stage.

Case in point: I bought an M80 team shirt after seeing them as BeastCoast and then M80 winning Majors. I waited about two months for it to arrive from the States, and before I had even stepped foot on French soil, they were out of the competition.

Small World

It wasn’t a total loss though, as I bumped into both Matthew “Hotancold” Stevens and Shaun “Gunnar” Pottorff at the event while wearing the shirt.

Six Invitational Paris 2026 was a very different event from last year’s in Boston, but it carved its own, very French path. It showcased not just Rainbow Six, but esports history being made, just as the event tagline promised: here to make history.
