One UI 7 incorporates Samsung’s AI agents and multimodal capabilities throughout the interface. Samsung also intends to get in early on refining their AI platform to a point where interactions are seamless and instinctive.
The beta program will provide a glimpse into Samsung’s enhanced mobile user experience, including access to what Samsung said is “unprecedented personalisation”.
Next-Gen AI Assist
One UI 7 introduces significant enhancements to Galaxy AI features, including more sophisticated writing assist tools. These tools will be integrated into the AI OS to greater enhance user productivity. The upgrade will also allow text selection across applications without the need to switch contexts.
This enhancement builds upon the robust writing assist tools already accessible to Galaxy users. And these changes will improve AI-driven capabilities for summarising content. Functions like checking spelling and grammar, and converting notes into formatted bullet points, will see a buff.

The call features in One UI 7 have also been upgraded. Call transcripts, supporting 20 languages, are automatically transcribed when enabled. This can provide a textual reference for later use, and removes the necessity of manual note-taking.
New Design for Greater Customisation
One UI 7 introduces a refreshed look, centred around a new notification system. The new system is intended to simplify communication, and is easily accessible from the device’s lock screen. The ‘Now Bar’ highlights pertinent activities across features such as Interpreter, Music, Recording, Stopwatch, and more.
‘Now Bar’ also provides immediate access to crucial notifications, minimising the need to unlock the device. The new ‘Now Bar’ offers essential information and allows interaction with it more smoothly.
And, Samsung are bullish about the new Now Bar and new notification system. The Korean electronics giant says it wanted to ‘revolutionise the lock screen experience’ with plans for further AI-led enhancements in the future.

These feature enhancements are met with bold, yet familiar, design elements. One UI 7 attempts to minimises visual clutter by prioritising urgent and useful information based off the user’s habit. The home screen has been simplified, One UI widgets and the lock screen have been redesigned, among other features, to provide users with detailed control and to make customisation more intuitive.
One Camera UI
The camera user interface has also been revamped for more intuitive use of advanced settings. The layout of camera buttons, controls, and modes has been restructured for easier navigation, ensuring that users can quickly access desired features and have a clear view of the photos they are capturing or the videos they are recording.
For Pro and Pro video modes, the manual settings layout has also been simplified. It’s now easier to focus on the picture or video you’re shooting. A new zoom control is available in Pro video mode, allowing you to control the zoom speed for smooth transitions.
The Future of Galaxy
The official One UI 7 release will commence with upcoming Galaxy S series devices, featuring additional AI capabilities including enhanced on-device AI functions, starting from the first quarter of 2025. In line with Samsung’s commitment to extend its OS upgrade policy, the update will gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices.
The One UI 7 beta program will be first available for Galaxy S24 series devices in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the U.S., from December 5. Galaxy S24 series users can apply to join the beta program via Samsung Members.
