TechStomper was a fan of Samsung Galaxy S24 and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. In our reviews, we lauded the Samsung AI implementation, the market-leading display and the hardware design. And so, Samsung Galaxy S24 FE has a clear brief – capture the robust, minimalist design of the flagship units, dazzle with a high-end display, and bring the Samsung AI experience to mid-range price bracket.
It was always going to be a lofty series of goals, Samsung have delivered on all fronts. And on top of these three pillars, users can also rely enjoy some flagship features and premium design elements.
Fan Edition
Samsung Galaxy S24 FE makes the ultimate first impression. The minimalist design and incorporation of premium materials certainly look the part. There are also some subtle design divergences that show a quiet confidence in their S24 FE offering – the unit is inspired by their premium line rather than attempting to copy it completely.
The ‘friendly box’ design is worn well on Samsung Galaxy S24 FE. The frosted metallic frame offers a pleasing contrast with the blackness of the display while powered off. Our Blue review unit features a pale icy hue on its rear panel. This sea of colour is only punctuated by the three lens standing free, and a solitary ‘Samsung’ logo.

The S24 FE design is ultra modern with minimal micro detailing allowing simple shapes, contrast and materials quality to do the visual heavy lifting.
Solid Build
That aluminium frame is tightly machined and feels robust in the hand. At just 8mm thick, the device is svelte and pocketable. 213 grams for a 6.7-inch display device is in the sweet spot – Samsung Galaxy S24 FE feels solid without feeling heavy.
The device also offers premium peace of mind with Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back of the device. In addition, Samsung Galaxy S24 FE also features dust and water resistance, rated at IP68. The device is dust tight, and can handle submergence in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes.
Flagship Display
The 1080p AMOLED display on Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is, overall, comparable to premium displays. It’s bright and pleasantly colourful, offers deep contrast, and the tiny bezels give a true full-screen viewing experience.
In spite of a huge 6.7-inch screen diagonal, Samsung Galaxy S24 FE doesn’t feel like a big phone. In fact, at 8mm thick the device is eminently pocketable despite its generous screen real estate.
Effective Efficiency
The chipset powering Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is very capable. Android 14 runs liquid smooth. The UI transitions and effects look sharp. Apps open, close and switch with an appreciable swiftness.

The Exynos 2400e chipset is a 4-nanometre process chip that runs cool and offers great efficiency with everyday tasks. 8GB of RAM is well enough for tab hogs. The device is also capable of high frame rates with complex 3D gaming, albeit at medium-to-high settings.
Pocket Photo Studio
The triple-lens camera arrangement of Samsung Galaxy S24 FE attempts to cover all bases. The 50MP main sensor offers detail, contrast and colour when the conditions are ideal. The 8MP 3x telephoto lens can take you a little closer to the action. The 12MP ultrawide can capture your holiday vistas or family gatherings.
There are also some neat tricks on board Galaxy S24 FE. The 3x telephoto lens can be used for a hybrid zoom with excellent results out to around 10x zoom. Samsung’s camera app offers a full Pro suite for its three lenses as well as robust AI scene selection.

Low light imaging is processed using Samsung’s proprietary ProVisual Engine. The camera app’s AI decides whether a low-light image or video is needed. Then, holding your phone somewhat steady will allow the app to stitch together a snap or video.
Low-light imaging is one of Samsung Galaxy S24 FE’s strongest suits. The results are consistently striking and can rival flagship devices in most respects when the sun goes down.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE also offers flexibility with its video capture. 8K video may be in its infancy, but S24 FE will shoot the emerging standard at 30 frames per second. The device can capture video at a wide range of resolutions and framerates, including 4K up to 120fps, 1080p up to 240fps, and 720p up to 960fps.
The device’s video capture performs well in low-light conditions, and produces colourful and detailed clips across a wide array of conditions. The video capture performance is bolstered by an incredibly reliable optical image stabilisation system.
Social Selfie
Interestingly, Pro and low-light modes are also available for use with the 10MP wide selfie cam. This allows great control over selfies and other images suited for social media.
Another cool selfie features is Samsung’s own Portrait Studio. This app offers a raft of AI editing tools to refine and enhance your selfies to look your very best online.
Portrait Studio can also leverage the power Samsung AI to create stylised images from your selfies. Be it a cartoon dog version of you, or you in space – once you understand how to prompt the software, the possibilities are limitless.
AI Image Editing for Everyone
Samsung has brought every single AI feature from their premium devices to the mid-range Galaxy 24 FE. Samsung Galaxy S24 FE offers an Edit Suggestion feature that recommends appropriate adjustments for each photo.
Activating the Samsung Galaxy AI Generative Edit in the settings allows you to complete parts of an image’s background with this technology. The AI can independently correct the borders of skewed shots, propose changes in tone or white balance, or focus shots on the intended subject.

Additionally, Samsung’s AI has the capability to ‘Remaster’ any image in the Gallery, reducing noise and restoring details that were lost in images of lower resolution. Its more sophisticated features can even reposition objects or subjects within an image.
AI Video
Samsung’s AI can enhance videos as well. A prominent feature is Instant Slow-Mo, which creates extra frames to decelerate fast-paced actions in scenes. Although Instant Slow-Mo is optimal in brightly lit environments with the subject near the camera, it can still produce remarkable results with almost any video in your Gallery.
It is crucial to note that when a Galaxy S24 series device, including the FE model, employs generative AI to alter an image, a watermark is embedded in the image and its metadata. This acts as a lasting marker that the image has undergone digital enhancement.
Found in Translation
Samsung Galaxy S24 FE features two real-time translation services: Live Translate for phone usage and Interpreter for face-to-face interactions.
Upon downloading a 400MB language pack, users can access AI-powered translations directly on the device.
This also enables the use of full translation services without the need for WiFi or mobile data. Handling the translations on device also eases concerns over privacy, and shows how powerful Galaxy S24 FE is in terms of NLP.
It should be noted that the AI defaults to using the cloud for data processing. To limit this to ‘device only’, you will need to adjust the settings in the AI Assistant section of your phone’s menu.
Real-Time Translate
Samsung AI provides two-way, real-time voice translation for phone calls via Live Translate, found in the Call Assist menu. It functions well on Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, keeping up even with subpar connections.
Samsung Galaxy S24 FE also features Live Translate for text, which works on messages, documents, or webpages. The feature works almost perfectly for concise interactions or simple concepts on both devices.

Samsung AI Interpreter delivers a split-screen translation for spoken language, allowing people to read the text transcription of their conversation while facing each other. Additionally, the AI voice on the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE can vocalise the translations. However, it is generally quicker to read the translation than to listen to it.
The display can be flipped on one side to aid face-to-face interactions, a thoughtful feature shared by both models. Samsung AI currently supports 13 languages, expanding to 18 with global variants. For instance, it includes Mexican, American, and Castilian Spanish.
Chat Assist
Chat Assist is compatible with the Samsung Keyboard on various apps for the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, enhancing conversational tones and creating notes within different dialogues. Samsung Galaxy S24 FE excels at ensuring messages convey the intended tone, along with improving punctuation and spelling.
Samsung Keyboard can use the AI Translate functionality to translate messages and emails in real-time across thirteen languages. It works about as well as the Interpreter and Live Translate features.

Simple messages and concepts are handled mostly flawlessly while more intricate sentences and concepts might yield less fluid translations.
Universal Secretary
Samsung Galaxy S24 FE also includes Text Call, which acts as your personal secretary and will be a game-changer for some. An user-selected AI voice answers calls and informs the caller that they will be communicating with you through a Text-to-Speech converter.
The caller’s speech is turned into text for you to read, and your text responses are then read out to the caller by the AI voice.

Additionally, Samsung Galaxy S24 FE offers Notes Assist, a powerful tool for creating AI-generated summaries. These notes can be brief and specific and you can also use templates to standardise the style and information type. You can access your notes in text or through an audio playback.
Notes are structured effectively out of the gate. However, you can instruct the AI to capture certain topics more thoroughly, or change the density of information, and so on. The language is generally tailored to the context, but, again, you can change this to your liking. Summaries can be created from a variety of text formats and even from webpages via the Samsung Internet app.
AI Fun
There are also a few fun AI tricks to try on Samsung Galaxy S24 FE. Users can doodle top of any images in their Photo Gallery and the AI will transform your work into a sticker or emoji. It’s easy to use, and quite a lot of fun seeing what the AI reads from your drawing.
Another cool feature is Photo Ambient Wallpaper. Users can select their favourite outdoor scene from their Photo Gallery and Samsung AI will alter the image to match the time of day and season. Along with Generative AI wallpapers, Samsung Galaxy S24 FE users can truly make the device their own.
Stamina and Charging
Samsung Galaxy S24 FE sports a large 4,700mAh battery and does an honest shift on a full charge. On our moderate workload, we regularly made it to bedtime on day two and we’d expect the many users to get the same runtime.
Power users can rely on Galaxy S24 FE to handle their full workday and still have some juice left for the commute home.
The 25W wired charge will take your Samsung Galaxy S24 FE from 0% to 50% in around 30 minutes. This is perfect for a quick blast before heading out the door. However, 25W is somewhat slow compared to some of its rivals with a full charge taking around 80 minutes.
