OPPO Find X5 Pro

OPPO Find X5 Series Launch and Preview

OPPO had a strong 2021, their OPPO Reno 4 and Find X3 series reviewed well and didn’t sell too badly either. Their 2022 premium lineup was revealed on Thursday and the company launched three devices in their OPPO Find X5 series. OPPO Find X5 Pro is undoubtedly the star, while Find X5 and Find X5 Lite aim to preserve the best of Pro in smaller and less pricey forms respectively.

Design

One thing that made OPPO Find X3 Pro stand out last year was that heat-formed rear glass cover that smoothly warped its way around the device.

The ‘squircle’ camera bump curved elegantly around the rear of Find X5 while the ultra-frosted glass resisted fingerprints admirably.

OPPO Find X5 Pro is an iteration of that beautiful design but with a completely new material adorning it. OPPO have use ceramic around the back and it certainly stands out for it novelty.

Ceramic was the material used on Nokia 7 Plus, a phone I loved the look of. OPPO’s use of the material on a ‘premium plus’ device will likely be even more lush.

We haven’t seen either model in real life yet so we’ll our judgement till we do.

Features

Perhaps the most eye-catching facet of OPPO Find X5 Pro beyond the exquisite design is its cooling. With a highly powerful chipset crammed into a tiny case, OPPO have provided a novel cooling solution to keep the device cool no matter what ridiculous computational load you throw at it.

The cooling is done via graphene film and a vapour chamber. Yes, graphene is that futuristic material that’s set to alter manufacturing paradigms in the same that plastics did. It’s here in your phone now and that’s quite exciting for future nerds as well as offering cooling performance not possible before.

Another feature that will help the device stand out is the possibility of adding RAM from storage ROM should 12GB not be enough for you.

OPPO once again went with a dual-prime lens. Using the same lens for both wide and ultra-wide guarantees better consistency across images when it comes to colour and contrast.

OPPO have recently signed a cooperation deal with high-end digital camera experts Hasselblad and the Find X5 series will wear the name and incorporate Hasselblad software into the device.

The partnership is initially for three years and this year OPPO will benefit from Hasselblad software whereas a hardware collaborations are in the pipeline.
