Huawei Watch GT 2e First Impressions

Huawei is continuing to expand its portfolio outside of its traditional area of phones with the competitively priced Huawei Watch GT 2E.

With the GT 2E, Huawei has entered the more budget market for smartwatches but thankfully, you sacrifice little from the more premium GT 2.

There are certain design changes when you compare both watches, but the GT 2e actually gains certain styles over the GT 2.

You get an excellent design with Huawei GT 2e which includes a beautiful 1.39 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 454px x 454px.

Customisation is key

There’s a fair amount of customisation options as well. There are loads of watch faces to choose from and you can even personalise the data shown to include steps, heart rate, weather etc.

The watch bands can also be changed to different designs and colours if the black strap isn’t doing anything for you.

Powering the watch is Huawei’s first in-house wearable chipset, the Kirin A1. From my few weeks of having GT 2e, it handles everything nice and smooth.

Battery life is king on GT 2e. When I first turned it on the battery was at 46%. 3 days later after heavy use, it was at 35%. It charges with USB C as well and is very fast to charge.

No Excuse Not To Exercise

Huawei Watch GT 2e comes with all the fitness apps you’d expect even on a more budget-friendly watch. So, you’ll have no problem recording your exercise whether it’s running, walking, cycling, swimming or hiking, just to name a few.

You can also get notifications sent to your Huawei Watch GT 2e from the likes of Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook.

However, and this is a big however, you cannot respond to the messages. ‘m guessing the watch would be a lot more expensive if you could.

A neat little feature that Huawei has included is the ability to find your phone through the GT 2e. For someone like me who misplaces the important things like my mobile, it’s a blessing.
