Huawei has today unveiled the latest incarnation of their Sound lineup of speakers which promises to be the jewel in the crown of their partnership with acoustics giant, Devialet.
After the launch of the SoundX speaker in 2019, the 2021 edition will deliver full-body audio in an even smaller form-factor than its predecessor.
A unique 4-speaker design that includes a 4-inch 40W subwoofer and three 5W full-range speakers all work in conjunction to deliver a powerful sound. Thanks to Devialet’s push-push configuration ” in which two passive radiators reinforce each other to counteract back wave vibrations.” This greatly reduces any distortion that might occur otherwise.
With Devialet’s SAM® technology and the 1 woofer + 2 passive units” structure being incorporated for the first time, strong bass won’t be an issue on HUAWEI Sound.
Huawei Sound has three full-range tweeters that provide 360º surround sound that should give you the listening experience of being in a concert hall. Normally surround sound requires multiple speakers strategically placed around the room, but not with the new Huawei Sound. With Devialet’s SPACE technology, “by separating the input signal into direct sound, reflected sound, and ambient noise, via a dedicated algorithm. The three different directionally-oriented speakers then receive signals based on the location of the listener, and together create astounding surround sound effects from a single device, transcending the inherent spatial limitations of any room.”
A pretty cool feature of the new HUAWEI Sound is tap to transfer. This allows you to almost instantly transfer your phone audio playback to the speaker by tapping the phone against the speaker. To use this feature you’ll need a device running Android 5.1.1 or later with NFC and the phone screen turned on. It is not currently supported on iOS.
The design of HUAWEI Sound is understated and sleek. The lower half of the speaker is covered in a glossy fibre grid cloth that allows clear sound transmission and prevents dust infiltration and splashes.
