While a specialised monitor specifically for gaming or specifically for work will yield you the best results in either case, they are pricey and would likely struggle when used outside their native application. Sometimes you need a monitor that covers both bases without breaking the bank. HP Series 5 Pro 27-inch 527pq is a solid everyday monitor with accurate colour, sharp 1440p resolution and built-in eye safe technology.

But when the work is done, you can fire up the PC or console and have some fluid gaming fun at up to 100Hz. HP Series 5 Pro 27-inch 527pq does a lot for its price.
Elegant Simplicity
Our review unit features an almost all-black matte monitor housing with a silver metallic stand and foot with matte black plastic detailing. The matte of the anti-reflective screen blends with the rest of the monitor while switched off.
There is a small frame bezel around the display on three sides. This is around 1mm thick with a 6mm glass bezel inside this. The bottom has a 10mm bezel. There is one visible HP logo on the device in normal use – a glossy HP on the foot. It’s a nice singular flourish on an other sleek and minimal design.
All-Rounder
HP Series 5 Pro 27-inch 527pq delivers an crisp viewing experience with its QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440. A 27-inch diagonal also allows for a wide view of documents or spreadsheets.
The monitor also boasts vibrant colour reproduction with 100% sRGB coverage, so it’s suitable for editing photos or reviewing blueprints. The IPS panel also ensures consistent and accurate colours from every angle. Wide viewing angles of 178 degrees, both vertically and horizontally, allow for sharing of your screen with others.

HP Eye Ease is built into the display and works to reduce blue light exposure without distorting colours. This is particularly useful for users who need to maintain colour fidelity while avoiding eye fatigue. Unlike traditional blue light filters that can make the screen appear yellowish or dull, Eye Ease manages brightness, gamma, and colour to keep the image looking natural.
Once the work is done, HP Series 5 Pro 27-inch QHD 527pq can handily your favourite games, The 100 Hz refresh rate and 5 ms response time provide smooth visuals, making it a solid performer for casual gaming.
Ergonomically Sound
Its sleek, modern design features a three-sided micro-edge bezel that maximises screen real estate while maintaining a compact footprint. The monitor’s ergonomic versatility is impressive, offering height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and pivot options to suit any workspace.
Connectivity is well thought out, with HDMI, DisplayPort, and a USB hub included. There are four USB-A sockets on the rear of the device. Two are with the HDMI and DP in the middle, two are to the left edge as you look at the display, making them easy to reach.
The monitor works seamlessly with Windows 11 laptops via USB-C. The monitor also supports daisy-chaining with other HP Series 5 Pro displays, which is ideal for multi-monitor setups.
Mighty Menus
A great deal of care has clearly gone into the hardware menu and its button layout.
On the back of the device, near the right-hand side as you face the screen, there are five buttons. A large, rounded menu button with four arrow-shaped directional buttons encircling it. After locating these buttons once, they’re hard to miss.
Hitting any of the direction keys or the main button brings up a four-spoked menu. One to select input, one to select from the eight colour pre-sets, one brings up the audio volume, and one brings up the brightness.
This ensures that the most useful options are just two clicks away, streamlining the user experience significantly. You also have the flexibility to customise the quick menu options.

For gaming, the display offers a handy list of four settings ranked by expected input lag. Additionally, these four modes are very accessible. You can switch switch to the fastest mode just by navigating the menu on HP Series 5 Pro 27-inch QHD with a few clicks.

Additionally, you can access a more comprehensive menu on the monitor, which allows console gamers to customise the device to their liking. All of the most useful settings are always on hand.
