Google Unveils Pixel 10 Series with AI Features Aimed at Everyday Use

Google has launched its latest flagship smartphone range, Pixel 10 series, positioning it as the company’s most AI-integrated device to date. The announcement highlights nine new artificial intelligence features designed to streamline daily tasks, enhance communication and support creativity. The move underscores Google’s ongoing competition with Samsung, its primary rival in the smartphone AI space.

Advanced AI Chip Powers On-Device Intelligence

At the heart of Google Pixel 10 series is the new Tensor G5 chip, co-developed with Google DeepMind. This marks the first time the chip supports Gemini Nano, Google’s latest on-device generative AI model. The combination is intended to deliver faster performance and enable complex AI tasks without relying on cloud processing.

Premium models such as the Pixel 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and 10 Pro Fold come bundled with a year of Google AI Pro, offering access to advanced tools like Imagen 4 for image generation and Veo 3 for video creation.

Context-Aware Assistance with Magic Cue

One of the standout features is Magic Cue, which aims to reduce the need to switch between apps. By analysing data across Gmail, Calendar, Messages and other apps, Magic Cue can surface relevant information and suggest actions. For example, if a user receives a message asking about flight details, Magic Cue can automatically retrieve and prompt the user to share the itinerary.

Magic Cue also integrates with Daily Hub, a personalised feed that displays calendar events, recommended content and playlists. Users retain control over data access and can disable the feature at any time.

Real-Time Voice Translation

Voice Translate allows users to conduct phone calls across languages, translating speech in real time while preserving the speaker’s voice. The feature supports translation between English and ten other languages, including Japanese, Hindi and Portuguese.

Smarter Call Management

Google has expanded its Call Screen functionality with a new feature called Take a Message. It provides real-time transcripts for missed or declined calls and uses AI to suggest follow-up actions. These enhancements are also expected to roll out to Call Notes.

Enhanced Visual Support with Gemini Live

Gemini Live, first introduced with Pixel 9, receives an upgrade in the Pixel 10. The assistant can now interpret visual input from the camera and offer on-screen guidance.

Users subscribed to Google AI Pro will also gain access to video generation capabilities within the Gemini app.

AI-Driven Productivity Tools

NotebookLM, Google’s research assistant, is now integrated with Screenshots and Recorder. The system can suggest adding relevant images or transcripts to a user’s notebook for easier organisation.

Pixel Journal offers a private space for reflection and goal tracking, using on-device AI to generate writing prompts and insights. The journal can be locked for added privacy.

Gboard also sees improvements with Writing Tools, which can rewrite messages in different styles, correct grammar and even suggest emojis. Voice commands are supported for rephrasing.

Creative Features for Music Lovers

Recorder now includes a music generation feature. Users can record vocals and select a musical style to produce a custom track, blending AI with personal creativity.

Competitive Landscape

The Pixel 10’s AI-centric approach places Google in direct competition with Samsung, which has also invested heavily in on-device intelligence through its Galaxy AI platform.

Both companies are vying to lead the next wave of smartphone innovation, where generative AI and real-time assistance are becoming key differentiators.
