Samsung Launches Galaxy Z Flip7 Alongside First FE Foldable

Samsung Electronics has introduced its latest foldable flip smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, promising improved AI integration, brighter displays and a more refined design. The new Flip7 models build on the company’s foldable legacy while seeking to offer increased functionality in a compact format.

FlexWindow Expansion and Display Enhancements

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 features the largest cover screen yet seen on a Z Flip device, a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED panel that now spans edge to edge. Its 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2,600 nits aim to deliver a smoother user experience even in outdoor conditions, with Samsung’s Vision Booster further improving daylight visibility.

The interior 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display also benefits from the same refresh rate, enabling fluid content consumption across both panels. The extended FlexWindow allows users to send messages, view schedules or take selfies without unfolding the phone, continuing Samsung’s shift toward more usable external displays.

Design, Durability and Battery Life

Samsung has prioritised portability and resilience in its updated design. The Galaxy Z Flip7 weighs 188 grams and measures 13.7 mm when folded, making it the slimmest iteration of the series to date. Durability improvements include a reinforced Armour FlexHinge, upgraded hinge materials and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection for both front and rear panels. An Armour Aluminium frame provides added structural integrity.

Despite its reduced size, the device features the largest battery in the series so far: a 4,300mAh unit capable of providing up to 31 hours of video playback. This enhancement aligns with increased power demands from the phone’s new processor and display features.

Performance and AI Integration

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is equipped with the latest 3nm processor, reportedly offering improvements to CPU, GPU and NPU performance compared to the previous generation. For the first time, Samsung DeX is available on a Z Flip model, allowing users to connect the device to a monitor and activate a PC-style interface for multitasking.

Galaxy AI is tightly integrated with the enhanced FlexWindow, enabling tasks like voice searches, scheduling and information retrieval directly from the cover screen. Running One UI 8 on Android 16, the phone delivers multimodal AI features tailored to the foldable form factor. Personalisation options also expand, from dynamic wallpaper suggestions to enhanced widget and clock alignment on the external display.

Gemini Live is a highlight of the AI offering, allowing voice-based queries and camera sharing to assist with travel plans, outfit choices and more. Features such as Now Bar and Now Brief offer real-time updates across third-party apps, transport tracking and media summaries, with further support for Samsung Health data and Galaxy Watch integration.

Camera Features and Photography Tools

Camera upgrades are another focal point. The Galaxy Z Flip7 introduces a dual-lens system featuring a 50MP wide-angle camera and 12MP ultra-wide lens. Samsung’s ProVisual Engine automatically adjusts settings to optimise clarity across various lighting environments, including through Enhanced Nightography for low-light scenarios and 10-bit HDR for richer colour in video.

Selfie-focused enhancements are emphasised, with Real-Time Filters and a Zoom Slider available for FlexCam use. Dual Preview lets both subject and photographer see the image simultaneously on the FlexWindow, aiming to reduce retakes and improve framing.

Portrait Studio adds creative flair to everyday moments, offering visual effects such as cartoon filters and fisheye distortions. These features reflect Samsung’s continued interest in making professional-level content creation accessible on foldable phones.

Galaxy Z Flip7 FE

Samsung has also launched the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, positioned as a more affordable alternative that retains core foldable functionalities. It features a 6.7-inch main display and the same 50MP camera used in Flex Mode, enabling hands-free content capture without unfolding the device.
