Samsung Electronics has officially introduced its latest addition to the Galaxy foldable line-up: the Galaxy Z Fold7. The new handset blends upgraded hardware and artificial intelligence (AI) features with a sleeker, lighter form, as the South Korean tech giant seeks to cement its leadership in the premium foldables market.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is the lightest and thinnest model in its series so far, weighing in at 215 grams. For comparison, that places it below the Galaxy S25 Ultra in terms of heft. When folded, it measures 8.9 mm in thickness, and only 4.2 mm when opened.

Samsung has focused on usability with a wider 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen featuring a new 21:9 aspect ratio. Once unfolded, the device reveals an expansive 8-inch main display. It is claimed to be 11% larger than its predecessor, enhancing user experience for multitasking, media consumption and productivity.

Samsung promises vibrant visuals through Vision Booster technology and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, making outdoor readability more reliable. The foldable format continues to be central to Samsung’s approach, offering a smartphone that doubles as a tablet.
Hardware Durability and Build Enhancements
The new model debuts the Armour FlexHinge, designed with a water droplet structure and multi-rail engineering to reduce creasing and enhance durability. The cover display features Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while the internal structure incorporates a titanium plate and 50% thicker ultra-thin glass.
Advanced Armor Aluminium also makes a return, with Samsung claiming a 10% increase in strength and hardness for the frame and hinge housing. The improvements signal a focus on long-term durability – historically a concern for foldable devices.
Performance and AI Capabilities
Beneath the surface, the Fold7 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, delivering notable gains in performance: a 41% boost in NPU power, 38% uplift in CPU, and a 26% increase in GPU capabilities over its predecessor.

This computational power supports a suite of on-device AI features. Real-time translation, intelligent photo editing, and content generation have all been enhanced. Generative Edit, a tool to modify and refine images, now includes proactive suggestions such as Suggest Erases, which identifies distractions in photos.

The upgraded platform runs on One UI 8 with Android 16 and integrates Samsung’s AI offering more deeply than before.
Camera and Content Creation Features
The Galaxy Z Fold7 becomes the first in its series to feature a 200-megapixel wide-angle camera. Samsung says the sensor captures four times more detail and delivers images that are 44% brighter. The 10MP ultrawide camera on the inside display aids in group selfies and content framing.

Video performance has been improved with features like Night Video, which separates movement from static backgrounds to reduce noise, as well as 10-bit HDR for richer visuals. On the software side, editing tools like Photo Assist and Side-by-Side Editing help users refine their shots with minimal effort.
Audio Eraser has also seen an upgrade, now integrated into the Gallery app to more intuitively remove ambient noise such as wind or traffic from video clips.
AI-Driven Productivity and Enhanced Privacy
Productivity is another area receiving a boost through Galaxy AI optimised for large screens. New features include Split View and Floating View to prevent overlays from obscuring content, and Drag & Drop functionality for moving AI-generated content between apps.

For users concerned about data privacy, the Fold7 debuts Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, or KEEP. This new system isolates app-specific storage in a secure area of the device, giving each app access only to its own sensitive information.
