Xiaomi, one of the worlds largest mobile phone manufacturers has just unveiled the Redmi Note 9 series destined for the UK market.
Known for their price-conscious blend of high-quality build and competitive performance, the Redmi Note series of phones are generally excellent mid-range devices.
Both XIAOMI Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro will be launching in the UK and there a few more differences here than with the usual non-Pro and Pro paradigm.
More than Just a Larger Screen
Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 720G CPU which was apparently manufactured specifically for boosted gaming performance. The standard Redmi Note 9 comes with the MediaTek Helio G85 processor.
You can purchase the Note 9 Pro model with either 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Or, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with storage expandable by up to 512GB.
The Note 9 comes in two variants as well, 3GB of RAM and 64GB or 4GB and 128GB.
They both contain a beefy 5020mAh battery which should easily see a lot of you through to day two. But, fear not if you’re a true power-user, as both models support fast-charging. A 30-watt throughput on the Note 9 Pro and 18-watt on the Note 9. Both use USB Type-C.
In terms of display, you shouldn’t be disappointed with either models offering. Redmi Note 9 Pro is packing a 6.67-inch DotDisplay at FHD+ resolution, while the Note 9 also has FHD+ resolution DotDisplay but a slightly smaller screen at 6.53 inches.
Quad-Camera Setup
Redmi Note 9 Pro packs a 64-megapixel main camera on the rear along with an 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor.
The Note 9 also comes with a quad-camera setup on the back but with a 48MP main camera along with an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor.
Both models come with a punch-hole front facing selfie camera but in different positions. The Note 9 Pro has a central camera (16MP) while the Note 9’s selfie camera (13MP) is hidden off in the corner.
Both phones come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2+1 SIM slot, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC.
The Chinese phone market has gone from strength to strength in the last 10 years.
The recently launched Huawei P40 Pro has set the benchmark for cameras according to our own Vinny Fanneran.
