Samsung has announced the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 at their first Unpacked 2025 event. The Korean electronics giant has promised the most natural and context-aware mobile experience on consumer devices. The series is based on a customised Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy.

The chipset offers greater on-device processing power for Galaxy AI. The series also features superior camera hardware and control with the next-gen ProVisual Engine. Samsung Galaxy S25 series devices launch in Ireland and worldwide in February with pre-orders now open.
One UI 7 AI Upgrades
AI agents with multimodal capabilities allow the Galaxy S25 to interpret text, speech, images, and videos for natural interactions. Enhancements to Google’s Circle to Search make searching your phone screen faster and more contextual. Circle to Search now quickly recognizes phone numbers, emails, and URLs on your screen, letting you call, email, or visit a website with a single tap.
All three of Samsung’s new S-series devices also allow you to perform actionable searches with context-aware suggestions for next steps. Additionally, Samsung Galaxy S25 makes it seamless to switch between apps for quick follow-up actions, such as sharing a GIF or saving event details.
Natural Language Breakthrough
Samsung also boasts that Galaxy S25 series represents a ‘breakthrough’ in natural language understanding. This will allow for easier everyday interactions. Just ask, and intuitively find a specific photo in the Gallery or adjust the display font size in Settings.
Writing Assist features, such as summarising content or automatically formatting notes, can be enabled where texts can be selected, without needing to switch between applications. Drawing Assist unlocks new ways to bring ideas to life through combinations of sketches, text, or image prompts.
Privacy Secured by Samsung
Samsung Galaxy S25 series Personal Data Engine offers personalised AI features. All three of Samsung’s new S-series devices analyse your data on-device to reflect your preferences and usage patterns. You can search for an old photo in the Gallery using natural language. Or be guided through the day with Now Brief, which proactively offers suggestions accessible via Now Bar on the lock screen. All personalised data is kept private and secured by Knox Vault.
Galaxy S25 also introduces post-quantum cryptography, safeguarding personal data against emerging threats from quantum computing evolves. Additional updates include added Maximum Restrictions settings and enhanced Theft Protection. The series also introduces a new Knox Matrix dashboard.
Galaxy’s Most Powerful Performance Ever
All three of Samsung’s new S-series devices are powered by a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite, specially designed for Galaxy. Samsung says this is the most powerful chipset ever in the Galaxy S Series, delivering a 40% performance boost in NPU, 37% in CPU, and 30% in GPU compared to the previous generation.
This power enables the series to handle more AI experiences on-device, including previously cloud-based AI tasks like Generative Edit. Samsung and Qualcomm Technologies collaborated to customize the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. The Galaxy S25 series boasts advanced, efficient AI image processing with ProScaler, achieving a 40% improvement in display image scaling quality.

It also incorporates custom technology with Samsung’s mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe) embedded within the processor using Galaxy IP for greater display power efficiency. Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy is equipped with Vulkan Engine and improved Ray Tracing, making mobile gaming smoother and more realistic.
Keeping Cool
Intense device usage and AI processing run smoothly thanks to the improved heat dissipation structure. The new system features a 40% larger vapor chamber and a tailored thermal interface material (TIM) that enhances thermal efficiency. Galaxy S25 series also delivers ultra-detailed shots at every range with high-resolution sensors and the ProVisual Engine, setting a new standard for mobile photography.
The new 50MP ultrawide camera sensor is a significant upgrade from the previous 12MP. The default 10-bit HDR recording offers four times richer colour expression compared to 8-bit, allowing all three devices to capture details in any lighting conditions. Additionally, low-light videos have never been clearer than with the Galaxy S25. Its powerful processor analyses movement and time to reduce noise more effectively. This integration should allow for the detection of both moving and static objects with greater precision, ensuring sharper, cleaner footage in any scenario.
Pro Visual Tools
Samsung Galaxy S25 introduces a range of tools previously limited to specialised software, making advanced editing accessible for everyone. Anyone can now become a pro at editing photos and videos. Audio Eraser simplifies the removal of unwanted noise in videos by isolating categories of sounds – including voices, crowds, music, wind, nature, and noise – allowing control over what to tone down or eliminate entirely.
For a DSLR-like experience on mobile, all three devices offer depth-of-field control with Virtual Aperture. These pro features are now integrated into the popular Expert RAW. Galaxy Log enables precise colour grading for more professional video production. Portrait Studio has also been enhanced with more true-to-life facial expressions for your custom avatars. Filters introduce new analogue-style filters, delivering a film-like aesthetic for photos and videos.
Signature Samsung
Samsung Galaxy S25 series builds on Galaxy’s ‘Essential Design’. The device wears an update to the brand’s ‘Simple, Impactful and Emotive’ visual elements. Samsung also claims that the series are also slimmest, lightest, and most durable Galaxy S devices to date. Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts durable titanium and the new Corning Gorilla Armor 2, a first-of-its-kind material that is tougher than glass.
It combines Corning’s glass-ceramic with a proprietary anti-reflective surface treatment. This offers advanced drop protection, anti-reflection, and scratch resistance. Every external component of the Galaxy S25+ and S25 now includes at least one recycled material. The device’s metal frames incorporate 20% recycled armour aluminium for the first time.
Recycling Goals
The Samsung Galaxy S25 will be the first Galaxy smartphone to feature batteries made with recycled cobalt. Samsung and its partners extract cobalt from used batteries to reusing it for the Galaxy S25 batteries. The series also offers seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Irish Pricing and Availability
Samsung Galaxy S25 series will be available for pre-order from today, 22 January 2025, and will be widely available from Irish operators, Irish retailers and on Samsung.com from 7 February 2025.
Galaxy S25 Ultra will be available in Ireland in Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver and Titanium Grey. Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will be available in Ireland in Silver Shadow, Navy, Icyblue and Mint.
