Chinese hardware giant OPPO have released their latest flagship series of devices. Find X3 Pro, Find X3 Neo and Find X3 Lite are suitably packed with tech and spec but the single biggest vision for the new line is its billion colour pipeline found in Find X3 Pro. We’re focused on Pro today as it’s the model that will sell most worldwide and is the first model available in our region.
Flagship
Our featured model Find X3 Pro is based around a curved 6.7″ 120Hz display and the powerful Snapdragon 888 5G. The chipset has benched impressively and should provide a seamless experience.12GB of RAM with 256GB fits in nicely with other premium devices.
The AMOLED screen can reach a massive 1,300 nits with over 8,000 steps along its brightness spectrum. This should help you find the right glow to help the extra colour pop.
The chassis is something that OPPO are particularly proud of. The glass unibody rear features a quad curve design that meets at its four-lens island. The frosted rear is matted to such an extent that it can apparently remain completely fingerprint-free. OPPO describe the look as ‘fluid’ with a ‘smooth, organic bend’. A specific target was to rid camera modules of their disjointedness. At 8.2mm thick with that frosted rear, it should be easy to hang on to.
It takes 40 hours to morph X3 Pro’s rear glass into its distinct shape with temperatures as high as 700°C used to finish the piece. The design has 2,000 individual control points around which to form the piece.
Flash Charge
The 4,500 mAh battery aboard OPPO Find X3 Pro should be enough for most to make it through the day but for those who don’t, OPPO offer SuperVOOC 2.0 at 65W. That will blast your device from 0-40% in just ten minutes or fill the device completely in 35 minutes.
A 30W wireless charge via compatible chargers is also an impressive figure with an 84 minute 0-100% charge time being competitive with many wired offerings.
Find X3 Pro has built-in reverse wireless charging at a decent 10W.
A Billion Reasons
During our pre-briefing a few days ago, OPPO were keen to show how rounded their handling of the billion colour pipeline was. As you would expect, users can capture a billion colours in both photo and video modes. Users can even shoot 4K with the enhanced video. The billion colour display can then show you the wonder of 97% of the NTSC DCI-P3 colour gamut.
But OPPO did better than that. Knowing that such power would be of interest to photo and video hobbyists, users can export the high colour files to non-billion colour devices for editing. Using 10-bit colour management, the billion colours can be preserved as you move your files around. Find X3 Pro offers a true glass-to-glass billion colour pipeline that you probably have to see to truly appreciate it.
More Control
Additionally they have worked on their ‘Pro’ camera modes. OPPO have added a greater array of advanced settings and features to their pro mode. More granularity for those who think they can do better than the AI.
OPPO Find X3 Pro has other features that may unlock the creativity of their customers. A 3MP microlens offers 60x zoom for a microscope in your pocket.
Interestingly, OPPO have used a dual main cam approach on Find X3 Pro with matching 50MP Sony IMX 766 sensors for wide and ultra wide lenses. This will provide better colour and contrast constancy across different shooting modes.
