Nokia Valentine’s Day Study Shows Tech Items Amongst Those Shared Most

Irish people are known for their generosity but research conducted by HMD Global, the home of Nokia Ireland, shows just how willing we are to share ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Tech and food items are amongst the items that people are willing to share with their romantic partner.

Interestingly, baby boomers more likely to share with their family than a romantic partner. And millennials are that little bit more willing to share their stuff, probably to experiencing more cost-of-living crises and economic downturns compared to other generations.

Food tops the list with 58% happy to share their food with a romantic partner with a phone charger in second at 48%.

Cost-of-Living Woes

The Valentine’s Day research suggests that 65% of people are more likely to share essential and everyday items with loved ones due to the cost-of-living crisis.

This figure rises to 74% for millennials who are the most likely to share overall. The figure drops to 45% for baby boomers who are the least likely to share with their partner. However, 60% of baby boomers would share items with their family members.

According to Nokia Ireland’s research, 9% of millennials would even share their toothbrush. Baby boomers would also sooner share with their family, with 60% saying so.

Tech Sharing Stats Ahead of Valentine’s Day

48% would share their phone charger with their spouse or partner. Tablets enter the top three items people are most willing to share with their children (26%). The public is more likely to share with a child over other family (25%) or a romantic partner (22%).
