The Nintendo Switch Super Mario Bros. Edition is Glorious

Nintendo is set to launch a special edition Nintendo Switch in honour of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. The blue and red coloured Switch will launch on February 12, alongside the newly announced Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.

This is far from the first special edition Nintendo Switch with Animal Crossing New Horizons and Pokemon also previously getting unique edition treatment.

The blue and red colours really pop off the console giving the switch one of it’s most unique special editions ever. The console and dock are both luminous red, while each joy-con is red and blue.

“We hope players enjoy pouncing their way through two great Mario adventures in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, with lots of feline fun to be had whether playing solo or with family and friends,” Nintendo of America marketing boss Nick Chavez said. “Along with the Nintendo Switch – Mario Red & Blue Edition system, we’re delighted to offer these new products that mark more than 35 years of Super Mario adventure.”

The Nintendo Switch Super Mario Bros. edition will retail $299 but won’t include a copy of Super Mario World + Bowsers Fury. You can buy that separately for $60. Like other special editions, you’d expect the Super Mario Bros Nintendo switch to be incredibly hard to find.

It looks like this edition will only launch as the classic Nintendo Switch and not the Lite version.
