Music enthusiasts in Dublin have reason to celebrate as hmv returns to Ireland. The iconic music retailer is preparing to open its first store in Ireland after a near-decade-long absence. Situated on Henry Street, the new store is hmv’s first outside the UK since exiting the Irish market in 2013. The grand opening is scheduled for mid-July 2023 and hmv Ireland will unveil the multi-level, 6,000 square-foot space, a haven for pop culture aficionados.

Having already established 120 stores across the UK, hmv’s return to Ireland under Sunrise Records represents a significant milestone. Located at 18 Henry Street, Dublin. The store aims to captivate music and technology enthusiasts with its wide array of pop culture merchandise. It will also serve as a live music venue, hosting performances and signings by local talents and global superstars.
hmv’s return to Dublin is a testament to the company’s resurgence under Canadian Doug Putman, who took charge in 2019. Transforming the business into a fan and community-oriented experience, hmv has revitalised its concept and shattered previous records. In 2016, the chain was forced to close its last Irish stores under different ownership.
