The story in GTA VI looks set to break new ground with the inclusion of the series first-ever female protagonist if an industry insider is to be believed. It would be quite the turnaround from GTA V, which featured three playable male characters that you could switch between throughout the game.
Female characters in the GTA series tend to be written one-dimensionally and on the periphery of the overarching storyline. That could all change with the hopefully soon-to-be-released GTA VI. Industry insider, Tom Henderson has now revealed that the next instalment will have both a male and female playable characters, presumably that you can switch between similar to GTA V.
Henderson has previously revealed leaks relating to Battlefield 6 and the Call of Duty franchise including the return of the much-loved Killstreaks. Henderson took to Twitter in the last few days with the tweet “for the first time ever in a GTA title, GTA VI will have a playable female and male protagonist.” It’s about time that a female character was given a legitimate backstory with a bit of depth.
Little concrete information is known about GTA VI. Rumours in the past have suggested that the story will take place in the 1980s with the story taking place between Miami and South America. GTA Vice City on the PS2 was the last time we visited the world of Miami.
Before GTA VI releases, we have GTA V coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021. This will be the third console generation that GTA V will release on when the expanded and enhanced version releases.
