Google’s 13th August 2024 Made By event saw the company official unveil three non-foldable Pixel 9 devices. While Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold can boast of being the thinnest foldable yet made, the three non-foldable devices have plenty of their own to shout about. All three non-foldables run a new chipset, Tensor G4, with the expected boosts to performance and efficiency. However, the chipset also raises the bar for on-device AI processing.

All four devices unveiled at the event can boast a raft of AI assistant features that run in the box, which means you can avail of the best that AI bells even with no coverage.
Three Non-Foldable Devices Unveiled
For the first time, Google is now offering a two sizes of Pro model. Alongside Google Pixel 9, users can now choose between Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Pro 9 XL. Google’s designers explained that they had received feedback that suggested some users wanted the Pro experience in a smaller form factor.
Those with smaller hands or more active lifestyles can now go Pro with a device similar in dimensions to Google Pixel 9, while those after the bigger screen can opt for the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Pixel 9 Pro XL offers a 6.8″ display, and is similar in size to 8 Pro. Google Pixel Pro offers a 6.34″ display, which is slightly larger than Pixel 9 and Pixel 8. The devices wear the signature Google visor design, with an updated look.
The three devices feature a ‘friendly box’ design with straight sides and tight corners. The other polished aluminium frames offer a nice contrast with the frosted glass rears of the devices.
All three get a charging upgrade – Google Pixel 9 can charge from 0-55% in just 30 minutes. The two Pro models can be juiced from 0-70% in the same time.
Safe and Sound
Google are also giving seven years of security updates and feature drops with all four devices announced at Made By Google August 2024. The devices’ chipsets also feature the latest Titan M2 security coprocessor as standard to keep the line-up at the forefront of personal digital security.

Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are available to pre-order in Ireland from 13 August. Pixel 9 is available in Ireland sim-free from €899. Pixel 9 Pro is available in Ireland sim-free from €1,099, and Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is available in Ireland sim-free from €1,119.
