We recently reviewed the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, which is an absolute weapon. As mentioned in my review, it’s my go-to controller for the Switch 2, having spent years using the original on the first Switch. At £74.99/€99.99, it’s not exactly cheap, especially when you’ve already spent at least £400 on the console itself. If you’re after a more budget-friendly option with a few extras, Gioteck might have just the thing. Gioteck WX5+ Wireless RGB Controller for Switch is a fraction of the price, coming in at just £24.99/€29.99.
Undercut
Don’t let the low cost fool you, it’s packed with some surprisingly good features.

It’s available in five colourways, from standard black to more eye-catching designs like Doodle and Pink Swirl. I tested the Dark Camo version, and straight out of the box, I was impressed. Inside, you’ll find the controller and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable ready to go.

The first thing you’ll notice is how light it feels, with most of the weight centred in the middle. It does have a plasticky feel, but that’s expected at this price point.

There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom, two mappable back buttons, and a chat button, making it fully compatible with the Switch 2.
Name in Lights
It also features two RGB rings around the thumb sticks, which can be set to six different colours—or rainbow, if that’s your style. You can change the colours with a button on the back.

Vibration and motion controls are fully supported, and both worked well during testing. The motion controls were especially impressive for a budget controller.

It has Hall-effect triggers, and the analogue sticks offer plenty of movement. Personally, I found the sticks a bit too loose—less resistance than I prefer—and while the triggers are solid, I do miss having trigger stops. I know, first-world problems, but it’s something I look for in third-party controllers now.

Wireless connectivity was straightforward, and battery life is decent. Adjusting the RGB and rumble settings could help it last even longer. For £24.99/€29.99, wireless functionality is a pleasant surprise. Especially since I’ve reviewed £59.99/€69.99 controllers that weren’t wireless at all.

I tested it with Mario Kart World, Street Fighter 6, Donkey Kong Bonanza, Sega Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World. It performed flawlessly across all titles.

Overall, Gioteck WX5+ Wireless RGB Controller is a solid piece of kit offering plenty of features for very little money. It’s compatible with both Switch and Switch 2, so whether you need a new controller or a backup, it ticks all the right boxes, and does it with style.
