It has just been announced that Dirt 5 is to be delayed until November 6 with the next-gen consoles seeming to be the main reason.
This is an interesting delay given that Microsoft has confirmed a November release for the Series X and Sony is expected to follow suit with a November release for the PS5.
This is the second Dirt 5 delay in the space of a month. It was originally set to release on current-gen consoles and PC on October 9 until it was pushed a week back to October 16.
Judging from marketing material for Dirt 5, it’s pretty clear that they have a partnership with Xbox so this could well end up being a launch game for Series X.
Developed by Codemasters, Dirt 5 is set to support framerates of 120 fps at 4K on both the Xbox Series X and PS5.
Frank Sagnier, Chief Executive at Codemasters, said of the latest delay: “Dirt 5 has received widespread critical acclaim, culminating with the game receiving the Gamescom 2020 Best Racing Game Award on 30 August.
“The revised launch date will allow us to take advantage of the next-generation console launches which are expected in time for the holiday season
Dirt 5 will support Xbox’s Smart Delivery system which will allow players to buy the game once and play the optimised version for the platform of their choice, be it Xbox One X, One S or Series X.
