This Is Your EU/UK Xbox Series X Retail Unit; Packaging and Contents

The folk who wrap Surface know how to wrap tech...
Xbox Series X Power Your Dreams

The ninth generation of consoles are trickling out to press and influencers across the globe. We’ve been sitting (not literally) on our Xbox Series X for just over a week, waiting to show you how your very own XSX will look on the shelf. And, more importantly, what the contents of the box will look like.

The packaging was apparently designed with help from the team who wrap Microsoft Surface. Those of you who have opened a Surface probably still think of that wonderful moment. The stickers that hold the Xbox Series X box closed are very strong and only add to the satisfaction of ripping them off.

The packaging colouring and theme is very like that of Xbox One X. The close-up that dominates the front image. The light that bleeds the console’s black colouring to a dark grey. And of course, some Xbox green.

The console is wrapped in an anti-static textured charcoal coloured wrap. Around this is a cardboard slip that says “Power Your Dreams” and this is nonsense obviously but they had to write something.

The console itself has been seen many times from every angle already but here are a few more XXX shots of the XSX.

A green coloured plastic intubation of the grille openings gives a green glow to the machine’s ‘top’. A thick ‘rubber foot’ feels reassuring and invites the user to orent it in this fashion.

Aside from the Xbox Series X console itself, there isn’t too much to talk about. One Xbox Series X controller, a pair of AA Duracell batteries to power it, a HDMI cable and a figure of eight power cable being the main contents. A stick cardboard ‘quick start’ guide will be useful to some on Christmas morning.

So that’s it – the entire Day One European package. We’ll be back soon with our impressions of the console itself, the Series X controller and other accessories soon.

Does Xbox Series X wear it well? What do you think of the packaging? Is Power Your Dreams as nonsensical as I think it is?
