Sony has unveiled a limited edition of their WH-1000XM4 headset in Silent White but only for a limited run in Europe.
Created to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Sony in May 2021, this headset will have the same excellent noise-canceling performance as the standard WH-1000XM4.
The Silent White edition includes a “pearlescent finish to the topcoat of the headphones to create a sense of depth and a luxurious touch.” The limited-edition also has an extra coat of paint over the standard models, so are even more scratch and stain-resistant. Thankfully, all the accessories also come in silent white.
Increased earpad cushioning that is also designed to be soft and pressure-relieving so there should be no problem if waring them all day.
While a new look is nice, it’s the tech inside the Sony WH-1000XM4 that sets them apart and delivers leading noise-canceling performance. Thanks to the HD Noise-canceling QN1 processor and a brand new Bluetooth audio system on chip, it can adapt noise, music, and acoustic characteristics in real-time.
Digital compression through various music apps has always been a problem, but with Edge-AI and DSEE Extreme, accurately rebuilds sound quality lost due to compression. There’s a bunch of hands-free options that make WH-1000XM4 easy to use. These include a hands-free listening experience. Simply speak to pause your music with the speak-to-chat feature activated. There are also two sensors in the headset that detect when they’re being worn or not. An excellent addition to save battery life.
Speaking of Battery life, it is very good as you’d expect from a high-end Sony headset. With noise-canceling turned off, you can get up to 38 hours of battery life. With noise-canceling turned on, you get up to 30 hours of battery life. The Sony WH-1000XM4 will go on sale in Europe from May 2021 until stocks last for €459/£400. When they’re gone, they’re gone.
