A group of scalpers in the UK is claiming to have secured over 3,000 PS5 consoles with the purpose of selling them on for inflated prices.
According to a manager ad Crepchiefnotify, they managed to secure around 1,000 PS5 consoles during the pre launch period. They have since added another 2,400+ PS5 consoles since they’ve been put on general sale.
In total they have around 3,500 PS5s waiting to be bought for grossly inflated prices by desperate folks trying to sort out their gift for Christmas.
It turns out this group had people watching all the sites where stock was being put up for pre order and general sale. They also had bot developers run bots that would nigh on guarantee their user at least one PS5 console.
Tom, the manager at Crepchiefnotify told Business Insider, “Bot developers have seen the demand rise for next-gen consoles and have changed their focus from being sneaker-focused bots into multi-use bots for electronics too”
Once the PS5 consoles were secured, they went on to sell for over €1,000 in certain cases. With PS5 consoles sold out everywhere, it seems like their tactics worked a treat for their users.
